Off Season Moves:

GM Jim Hendry traded for Florida Marlin’s Juan Pierre (.276 2 47), who will lead off and play center in 2006, both of which were troublesome spots last year. Hendry also strengthened the Chicago Cubs bullpen with two free-agent signings: lefty Scott Eyre (2-2 2.63 obtained from the

The kick-off to the best rated laptops of the year

January 27th, 2012

The best rated laptop award changes not only from year to year, but it can and does change just as quickly from month to month.

Heck, with the major players out there like Dell, IBM, Compaq and HP just to name a few, competition is absolutely fierce!

But one thing is for sure.

This years best rated laptops all seem to have one thing in common. They are all called Apples!

Apple has taken this honor from several leading computing and electronics magazines, and the trend in sales seem to suggest that consumers are feeling the same way about them, as well.

Laptops such as the apple powerbook and ibook have helped apple stand tall among the major players in the computing world.

In 2004 alone, apple announced that it had an overall net income growth of 300 percent. That equals to a profit of $295 million in the last quarter. And if you are a stock holder that certainly must put a smile on your face. I know it does for me, and a number of my friends.

Single computer model sales are also showing the same trend. For instance, the ipod desktop version disappeared off the shelves at

Which Future For Libraries?

January 27th, 2012

Will libraries becoming increasingly virtual, the librarian becoming a knowledge navigator? Or will libraries disappear as the world goes wifi will Google become the future library? Or will place remain central, as libraries become anchor tenants in co-located in commercial and public transit-orientated developments? Or is social justice what libraries are really about a place for empowering, for creating a better society, finding spaces for young and old, for books and digital media?

The library, while appearing to be stable has changed throughout history. It has moved from being elite based, for the few that could read, to being a public space, and funded by the public has well, instead of by wealthy benefactors. And while the advent of the printing press changed the nature of the library, moving it from the monastery and the painstaking efforts of monk scribes, the recent digitalization of the world is leading to even more dramatic transformations.

The library has entered a contested domain its definition, its bundle of services are up for grabs who defines it, who pays for it, what are its basic purposes. And with the onset of edu-tainment and as the peer-to-peer knowledge revolution, might libraries become places not just

There’s More To Sports Eyewear Than Meets The Eye – Part One: Eye Safety

January 27th, 2012

With more and more people participating in outdoor and extreme sports adequate eye protection is a must. The two biggest dangers to the eyes in this environment are ultra violet (UV) light from the sun and impact from a direct blow to the face. The safety aspect of sports eyewear. however, is not solely the concern of the elite or extreme sports person. Sports people at all levels are wise to take some time in considering the type of sports eyewear they choose. With sports participation becoming more and more popular the demand for expertise in sports vision is increasing.

Eye Safety
Both elite and recreational sports enthusiasts need to ensure that their sports sunglasses offer one hundred percent protection from harmful UVA and UVB light as well as being impact resistant in case of mishaps! These are features that many fashion sunglasses lack. For this reason fashion sunglasses should never be worn during sport. They are unlikely to withstand impact and may shatter causing eye or facial injury. The ideal material for sports eyewear is polycarbonate which is a thermoplastic polymer. Make Money And Avoid Scams

January 26th, 2012

If I were you I’d be skeptical also.

The Internet is so full of scams, it’s hard to surf for ten minutes without stepping into one! These scams give legitimate programs and opportunities a bad name.

I’ve been ripped off many times, but it rarely happens anymore. I can easily tell when an online job or program is for real, and when it’s not. Here’s what you need to do:

1. Look for real proofs of earnings and testimonials.

If an online job tells you that you can earn $1,000 a day working for them online, look for proof! Do they have proof of earnings clearly on display? If they don’t, they’re probably not for real!

Are there testimonials from real people on the site? Are people making money? This is very important to look for.

2. Is there a guarantee?

When evaluating a job or online opportunity, you must look for a solid guarantee.

When there is a guarantee, you know that the owner stands behind his or her job or program. They are willing to let you test it out risk free! Now that’s confidence.

When there’s a guarantee you really have nothing to lose.

3. Trust

Self Confidence – The Deciding Factor

January 23rd, 2012

Ruth was one of my best friends in elementary school. She was not the most talented student, nor the most intelligent. She was not the best student in class. But she had great confidence. She had this special attitude of “I can do it”. Later, after graduation, she went on to work for a corporation. I followed her career, when she went up the corporate ladder, and finally landed a very prominent, central position at her company. I saw her take on projects that took major skills, I thought she didn’t have. She just attacked each project using this “can do” attitude, and she always found the right resources to either acquire the skills she needed, or found the right people to take on the assignments she could not perform herself. I was amazed at her achievements.

From observing Ruth and many other people around me in my career, I learned a very important lesson: one’s confidence determines one’s career. A person can be a genius. He can be most qualified for a job. If he doesn’t believe that he can do it, he might not even take on the assignment in the first place. If he does take it

Do I Dare To Call It Tattoo Art?

January 22nd, 2012

I have been an artist for as long as I can remember. In fact, I remember my kindergarden teacher sending home notes to my parents telling them how much I excelled in all areas connected with art. She told them that I had great potential to be a wonderful artist. So it was only natural when I decided to attend university to study art and when I was hired by a magazine to run their art department. One of the most fascinating assignments I have had so far is to visit various tattoo shops in order to write a piece about tattoo art for our magazine.

I was a little bit hesitant to work on this project because my goal was to get a well rounded picture of what kinds of tattoo art are popular right now and to figure out the main reasons why people are rushing to get tattoo art on various places of their bodies. My main problem was that I had never really considered tattoos art. So I struggled over how I was supposed to write a piece about “tattoo art” when I didn’t agree that it was true art.

During the project

Dedicated Server: Essential Or Simply An Added Benefit?

January 22nd, 2012

First lets talk about what a dedicated server is. A dedicated server is kind of what it sounds like. It is a server that is completely owned by its user and therefore avoids all of the usage and management hassles of a shared server. Often the management services are provided by the hosting company that leases these servers for an extra fee. They can be of all different sizes with anywhere from one to several different remote users being on the server at the same time.

The connectivity can be from one upstream link to several high quality links upstream depending on the quality of the dedicated server. Generally it is wise to pay more because you get the back up of several links in the event that one goes down and you are also able to have better connections often with other sites and other computers as you have several routes available to you with the different upstream links.

Benefits of the dedicated beyond the fact that you dont have to share your space with anyone else are many. For one thing it is in a remote location. This allows you to connect and do your work

Surf spots guide

January 22nd, 2012

The wind comes brushing through the hair, the surfs are up and you are at the verge of the never-ending expense of the pacific. The great American dream is incomplete probably without the great exploits of the sea. The sea never needs the coast guard to be glorified in the USA; it is in fact the integral part of peoples lives in almost half of Americas. Now where in America can find that definitive beach, is an odd question to ask, because hardly can there be only one answer to this. From the east to the west coast the sea god has bestowed North America with probably the best beach line in the world. The extended beaches in the island countries around the American continent are also perfect places to get the tan and the surf.

Hawaii is one of the most traveled beach destination of the world. It attracts tourists due to its never ending coastlines and the secret beaches, which are so exotic that it can be called the heaven on earth. The expanse of the Ho’okipa Beach is approximately 8.4 square miles! Now that is huge!! Americans and people from around the globe
